November “Spotlight”

Welcome to the newest corner of our website, where we get to shine a little extra “spotlight” on our dancers, staff, and partners. We are so proud of the arts community in Anacortes, and especially of the work and play going on here at Fidalgo DanceWorks. Dance education teaches lifelong skills including dedication, expression, and flexibility, and opens doors to so many future opportunities. We are so proud of our dancers!

Congratulations to Patrick Quinn, Anacortes High School Student of the Month for October in World Languages. Patrick is a junior at AHS, studying Spanish. He is also an experienced dancer at FDW, taking classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Swing. Keep up the great work, Patrick!

Congratulations to Serena Beckwith, Anacortes High School Student of the Month for November in Physical Education – Core Cardio. Serena is a freshman at AHS and an upper level dancer at FDW, taking classes in Jazz and Swing. We’re proud of you, Serena!

Congratulations to Olivia Turnage, Anacortes High School Student of the Mont for November in World Languages. Olivia is a freshman at AHS, studying Spanish. She is also an upper level dancer at FDW, taking classes in Ballet and Tap. Well done, Olivia!

Congratulations to Lola Potter, who received a Hawk Pride Award for good citizenship and behavior in October at Anacortes Middle School. Lola is a sixth grader who studies Jazz and Hip Hop at FDW. Awesome job, Lola!

You may have seen junior Lucy Shainin featured in the October Edition of the Anacortes Pride magazine. Lucy is the inaugural Anacortes High School student poet laureate for the Skagit River Poetry Foundation. As a poetry ambassador in our community, Lucy aims to connect people and poetry by attending events and workshops, giving interviews, and visiting schools. You can follow Lucy and her fellow student poet laureates on Instagram @srpfstudentpoetlaureates. Thank you for supporting poets and poetry and growing art in our community, Lucy!
